A Cessna 525 Citation experienced a serious incident during landing at Zagreb International Airport on 8 June 2025 when a left main landing gear tyre burst during the landing roll.
Following touchdown, the aircraft deviated slightly from the centreline, with the affected wheel briefly exiting onto the adjacent grass surface. The crew maintained directional control and safely brought the aircraft to a stop, with no injuries to the two crew on board.
The investigation determined that the burst tyre was the direct cause of the occurrence. Weather conditions were favourable, and no technical faults were identified in the braking, hydraulic, or anti-skid systems, all of which were operating normally. Crew actions were assessed as appropriate, with standard control techniques used to maintain stability during the landing roll.
However, the investigation could not determine the initiating factors behind the tyre failure, including whether wheel lock-up contributed. The absence of flight data recorders, cockpit voice recorders, and tyre pressure monitoring systems limited the ability to establish a detailed sequence of events.
Post-incident actions included replacement of the affected wheel, brake components, and associated sensor, alongside verification of anti-skid system performance. Airport operations were disrupted for several hours while the aircraft was recovered and the runway cleared.
No safety recommendations were issued, as no systemic deficiencies were identified.
