Policy for the Design of Controlled Airspace Structures
After extensive engagement with our National Air Traffic Management Advisory Committee (NATMAC), the CAA has published its revised Policy for the Design of Controlled Airspace Structures.
This document provides generic design criteria for controlled airspace, describing the lateral and vertical relationship between instrument flight procedures and the dimensions of the controlled airspace that contains them. It supersedes the 2014 ‘Controlled Airspace Containment Policy’, and is one of a number of documents that must be read in the context of each other to understand overall UK policy on airspace design; in particular, the new Policy for the Classification of UK Airspace.

SARG Policy: Policy for ATS Provision Within Controlled Airspace by Units not Notified as the Controlling Authority
The purpose of this policy statement is to provide guidance regarding the approval of Air Traffic Services (ATS) Units (ATSUs) seeking to provide ATS within controlled airspace (CAS), where such units are not notified as the controlling authority for such airspace. This policy statement supersedes guidance issued on 12 September 2012 by the then Directorate of Airspace Policy in relation to Autonomous and Authorised Radar Units.

SARG Policy: Policy for RNAV Holding Attached to Arrival Procedures in UK Airspace
This is an interim policy statement in the progression towards the introduction of RNAV holding in the UK. The implementation of the London Airspace Management Programme (LAMP) has been a driver in the formulation of this policy. Current trials based on RNAV holding using both time and distance parameters has shown the the performance of the aircraft consistent with expected performance. This policy statement is to clarify requirements for sponsors when introducing new or converting existing STARs to RNAV arrival procedures in terminal airspace. It specifically addresses the treatment of the associated conventional hold(s) when these holds are to be retained and promulgated at the end of new RNAV STARs.
